Chalmer E. Detling
Shareholder

Chuck Detling practices in the firm's litigation group where he represents corporate clients in a variety of legal matters from defending business tort and breach of contract actions to defending negligence and product liability claims.

A large portion of Chuck's practice is devoted to e-discovery and helping his clients when e-discovery issues arise during litigation. In fact, Chuck serves as national discovery counsel for a national consulting firm and has been called upon to handle e-discovery conflicts in several cases involving fortune 500 companies. Chuck also works with clients to develop records management policies and record preservation plans prior to litigation and otherwise provides electronic records management consulting.

A niche area of Chuck's practice involves assisting clients who act as expert witnesses in federal and state litigation. Chuck has provided guidance on everything from how to respond to certain intrusive discovery requests to how to best present expert opinions in deposition, at trial, and in written reports.

Chuck holds a Juris Doctor from the David A. Clarke School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Alabama. He is a member of the Georgia Bar, the litigation and product liability sections of the American Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel and the e-discovery section of the Defense Research Institute (DRI).

Chuck attends the Holy Spirit Catholic Church with his wife Marianne and two-year old daughter Grace. In his spare time, Chuck coaches the Walton High School rugby team and is an avid University of Alabama football fan.
