R. Kyle Woods

R. Kyle Woods joined Wagner, Johnston & Rosenthal, P.C. as a shareholder in April 2009.

Kyle has over 20 years of experience representing businesses and their principals, secured lenders, unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, bankruptcy trustees, receivers, preference action defendants and other parties in bankruptcy, reorganization, liquidation and insolvency matters. Kyle also advises and assists clients in workouts and financial restructuring efforts outside the bankruptcy arena, as well as offering counsel and representation with respect to pre-bankruptcy planning and collection litigation defense.

In addition, Kyle is an experienced trial attorney who has successfully represented businesses and business owners in a broad range of business and commercial disputes, lawsuits and appellate proceedings, before both state and Federal courts. The subject matter of such representation has ranged from construction litigation to commercial collections, from employment matters to business torts, from partner disputes to a wide variety of contractual arrangements.

Over the course of his career, Kyle also has provided general legal representation and counseling to numerous businesses, meeting the legal needs of his clients in matters ranging from the purchase and sale of assets, to drafting and negotiating various business contracts, licenses, leases and employment agreements, to managing client litigation matters in distant venues. He has advised clients from business inception, through initial public offering and beyond.

R. Kyle Woods received his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Georgia in 1985, graduating magna cum laude, and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. He continued his education at Emory University School of Law, where he graduated with distinction in 1988, served as a member of the editorial board of the Emory Law Journal, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. After law school and prior to entering private practice, he served as law clerk to former United States Chief District Judge, Charles A. Moye, Jr. R. Kyle Woods is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association.
