Case Review and Evaluation Services

Given the expense of litigation, it is reasonable to ask why a client would ever consider engaging another lawyer to review and evaluate a matter already being handled by other counsel. The answer is, quite simply, that financial institutions and corporate clients have recognized that some cases warrant a second look.

There are many particular circumstances that might lead a financial institution or corporate client to consider a case review or analysis. A financial institution may find the information and reporting provided by “underwriters counsel” to be inadequate, or may seek an independent analysis for its own internal reporting requirements. Similarly, a client might be concerned with the direction in which a case is headed, or the fact that it appears to have no direction. A client may also seek independent counsel to develop and implement a settlement or resolution strategy so that defense counsel can continue focusing on preparing the case.

The firm is uniquely suited to provide case evaluation and review services. First, case review and evaluation requires experience. Each of the firm’s litigation shareholders has practiced for over twenty years. The firm uses associates selectively, and thus experience is brought to each engagement. Second, the firm’s size permits to react quickly and responsively to client requests, without the bureaucracy of larger organizations. Third, the firm’s size permits it to provide case evaluation services in a non-threatening manner to existing counsel. Our role in case evaluation assignments is to be a resource to the client, and, if desired, its existing counsel.
