Willard (Bill) Timm is an attorney whose practice area is focused on tax controversy.
Bill is a graduate of Georgia State University with an AB in History and Philosophy. He received law degree from Emory University in 1968. Immediately following he spent approximately 3 years on active duty with the United States Army receiving his commission from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning where he was later inducted in the OCS Hall of Fame.
Upon release from active duty, Bill joined the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Treasury in Los Angeles and subsequently moved to the Atlanta Office. He retired from the Office of Chief Counsel in 2007 after 36 years. He was an Associate Area Counsel with supervision over attorneys in the Small Business/Self Employed Division. The attorneys represented the Internal Revenue Service before the United States Tax Court and provided “in house” legal advice on a wide range of issues. He was also a Special Assistant United States Attorney representing the Internal Revenue Service before the United States Bankruptcy Court.
Bill remained in the United States Army Reserves as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corp and retired in 1999 with the rank of Colonel. During his career in the reserves, he was Commander of the 213th Legal Services Organization composed of over 100 attorneys providing legal services and the Staff Judge Advocate 335th Theater Signal Command with unites in several states and a foreign country.
Bill is a member of the American Bar Association (section on taxation) and the Georgia and Florida Bars.
