Craig Wagner completed his undergraduate work at Tufts University in 1973 (B.A., magna cum laude) and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1976. While at Virginia, Craig served on the Editorial Board of the University of Virginia Law Review and was selected as a Member of the Order of the Coif.

Craig began his legal career in 1976 as an associate with the Atlanta law firm of Troutman, Sanders, Lockerman & Ashmore. During his five years at Troutman Sanders, Craig rose to the level of Senior Corporate Associate. In June, 1981, Craig, together with four Troutman Sanders commercial real estate attorneys, formed the Atlanta law firm of McRae & Holloway, P.C., which Firm is now known as Wagner, Johnston & Rosenthal, P.C.

Craig has practiced business law for 37 years, primarily in corporate and commercial real estate law.  Craig’s clients are exclusively entrepreneurs and closely held companies. Over the years, Craig’s clients have “remade themselves” many times, building successful businesses, selling them and then starting successful new businesses in different areas of endeavor. Because of his clients’ ever-changing business activities, Craig has provided legal representation to many and varied businesses, including both retail and wholesale businesses, sales and leasing companies, technology and licensing companies, wood products companies, alarm companies, telecommunications concerns, including network origination and satellite transmission providers, medical device makers, commercial real estate developers and investors in the office, retail, hospitality and senior housing sectors, restaurants and entertainment facilities, and professional sports teams and their owners and executives. Craig has represented his clients as borrowers in lending transactions in excess of $150,000,000 and in business sales and acquisitions in excess of $250,000,000.

Craig enjoys working closely with his clients in business planning, strategy development, contract negotiation and subsequent legal execution. Craig has been blessed by long term relationships with his clients and their successes over the years have provided Craig with the opportunity to have a fast paced, extremely interesting and most sophisticated business law practice.

Craig has an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell.  In December, 2010, Craig was recognized by his peers as one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s 2010 Legal Elite.  In February, 2014, Craig was selected for the third consecutive year for inclusion on the Georgia Super Lawyers list.
