The Firm has served as outside general counsel to the New Orleans Hornets, an NBA Basketball Team. The Firm was retained by the Hornets to assist it in negotiating an arena deal in Charlotte while the Team was still based in Charlotte. Although a transaction was successfully negotiated between the Hornets and the City of Charlotte whereby the City would build a new arena in which the Hornets would play, the Charlotte electorate voted against the financing proposal in a Referendum held in June, 2001. The Firm played a key role in the relocation of the Hornets to New Orleans, after considering several other cities as possible relocation sites. The Firm was intensely involved in the relocation of the Hornets from Charlotte to New Orleans and has negotiated all of the key Agreements necessary to implement that relocation.

The Firm has represented hockey teams in the East Coast Hockey League and the Charlotte Sting, a WNBA women’s basketball team. In its representation of these teams, the Firm has developed good working relationships with both the NBA and ECHL League offices.
